Changes after heavy downpours 29/30th Dec.(66mm)    19/20thJan.(16mm) :

The large tree trunk downstream from the site has become a dam.

The creek bed has become undermined so that the water depth is now 40cm (previously 18cm) however, the width is almost the same as last time.

Growth of Cumbungi has doubled, with many plants uprooted.

Montbretia weed is in flower and is spreading all along the creek.

Lots of extra rubbish on the dam ledge below the dam wall.

Surprisingly, there is no rubbish in the pit drain.

Lythrum salicaria is very showy in the small, planted wetland.

Excessive growth of creekside weeds --- Buffalo Grass    Buttercup    Tradescantia                                             -------------------------------------------                                                             BIRDS:    Bronzewings    Kookaburras    Mudlarks    Magpies    Noisy Miners    One Pacific Black Duck with 5 ducklings.

Long-necked Turtle below the dam wall.    Dragonflies and Damselflies in flight.    Marsh Frog calling.    Cicadas calling.    Lots of Midges in flight.
