Regarding Habitat: no changes since last report. Except for a major flood / fire the creek and its surround will not change from one report to the other. I could generate a photo gallery of sites along the creek. There is slight erosion along the creek's banks cause by animal paths (cattle / sheep), thus our plan to fence it in.
I have lodged an application for funds with the GBCMA to have Swamp Creek fenced in along its approx 2km long run through our properties. The creek has already been fenced in as a Carbon Sink Demonstration site along its flow through the neighbouring property, from the Harrisons Road bridge to its confluence with Stony Creek.
In our properties the creek is bordered by stands of approx 150 to 200 year old River Red Gums.
Regarding creatures: I am interested to attend an 'aquatic creature' course, if such a thing exists. There is quite a life in the Billabongs and along the creek. At the moment frogs, later when it gets warmer the Billabongs become alive with all sorts of critters. There may even be some native fish species. During last year's flood in February I noticed an eel on the flooded road.

On Aug. 8th, 2013 Swamp Creek did run 1.1m above normal flow level. I consider normal flow height as 0.2 m at the Bim Bim foot bridge gauging point. I established this gauging site on my property in January of this year. Lower laying areas were flooded and the Billabongs along Swamp Creek were filled. After approx 12 hrs of running high the creek dropped quickly to a height of approx. 0.5 m and to its normal height of 0.2 m after a further 48 hrs. Over two years of observations I established that Swamp Creek starts to flow after approx 60mm of rain over a 2 to 3 day period. Once the catchment area has been soaked it takes only 6 to 8 mm of rain to increase the creek's flow.
